Big Hand Up for Small Nonprofits
This little tidbit of information almost got past me without notice, but I think this is worth a few moments of our time and maybe more if it helps out your organization. It turns out that Blackbaud, a global provider of software solutions for nonprofits has partnered with PayPal to offer an ‘affordable solution to help new and growing nonprofits reach their fundraising goals.’ Dubbed ‘BlackbaudNow’ the service is a “… template-driven solution is ideal for new and growing nonprofits that need instant access to basic web tools.”
More than just a payment gateway, this bundled solution will allow smaller nonprofits to build a website and collect online donations while also managing the donor data collection, acknowledgement and campaign reporting. It is a bundled solution that is free to set up with Blackbaud and PayPal retaining transaction fees.
It is too early to tell if this is going to gain a lot of traction, but Blackbaud and PayPal are both major players. Clearly smaller nonprofits will benefit from the service and though the fees are slightly higher than PayPals normal transaction fees, when you figure the cost of website design/hosting and donor data management it seems like a steal. Maybe I am wrong. What do you think?
I’ll keep an eye out for any news regarding user experience and will report them here in the future. Of course, I invite you to share any insights, thoughts, or experiences you may have.
For more information on this partnership you can view the press release here, or visit the BlackbaudNow website.
